The Lost Book Of Remedies

by Alisa lisa Sophia (2019-04-02)

When the pamphlet "All Is Safely Gathered In: Family Home The Lost Book Of Remedies Review Storage," was published in 2007 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, several Ensign magazine articles regarding preparedness appeared shortly afterward. Some speculated whether the publications indicated a drastic emergency on the horizon. Did the prophet foresee the current economic crisis or more inevitable natural disasters? He didn't have to. Self-reliance and preparedness counsel is not new, in fact it's been shared for more than two millennia. The Church's web site explains that the pamphlet was created "to teach the simple principles of home storage and encourage participation. It offers hope by showing that it is possible for most Church members to prepare for adversity, starting modestly by storing a few items of food, filling a few leak-proof containers with water, and saving a few coins each week. The pamphlet helps eliminate the perceived complexity of home storage." The site further declares that the information outlined in the pamphlet also supersedes all previous counsel. In the pamphlet, the First Presidency states,"We encourage Church members worldwide to prepare for adversity in life by having a basic supply of food and water and some money in savings." Adversity can be an unexpected car repair, a neighborhood evacuation from a gas leak or a life-changing disaster affecting whole communities. By suggesting small goals as in "starting modestly," "a few items of food," and "saving a few coins," the revised counsel makes the goal of family preparedness attainable. So you really can nibble away at that emergency preparedness and home storage elephant in the room. Alma said,"by small and simple things are great things brought to pass," (Alma 37:6). Peace of mind in 2009 can be one of those great things. Being too fierce or holding back could spell danger whilst focusing on things like strength and the opponent's weapon should be discarded in favor of learning solid technique. You've heard the spiel and probably even taken the class-the one that shows you how to magically pack 3-days worth of food into a milk carton that will become your most prized possession in the event of an emergency. Flipping on the news you can even see how that little carton could take the edge off of tragedies like hurricanes and earthquakes occurring around the world.
